IMS have designed and manufactured two canopies for Welland Power to house 500kVA Gas generating sets, powered by Perkins 4008TRS engines. The generators are going to be installed in the UK and used as the sites prime power source, 24/7. The customer chose Welland Power to build the gas units as they wanted to buy a British manufactured product, from a UK company with significant pedigree and a balance sheet capable of supporting the project.  Running alternately to balance the engine hours, the units will be serviced on the recommend engine manufacturers schedules, including full overhauls. The units are expected to be on site for five years.

IMS designed the units to be 80dBA @ 1m and they were passed by the customer during the commissioning after the consultant performed the acoustic tests. The area, while not residential is sensitive to noise and therefore the customer designed the units to be on a position in the site that meant the specification noise level could be slightly higher than it might otherwise of been. Chairman of Welland Power John Farrow said “Its great to work with IMS again, they are the leading acoustic company in the UK as well as supplying a range of additional products and services that make them a key supplier of Welland Power and our sister company Regency Generators, who do UK project work using our products.”
