Generator Canopies
Generators are large, noisy and potentially dangerous machines and so they demand particular care when it comes to their siting and protection. IMS Ltd. build generator canopies that can protect both the machinery and those who work with it from noise, vibration and the risk of fire. Protection from the weather can also be provided as well as security, safe access and ventilation.
Construction
Weather Canopies
• 1.6mm zintec steel body
preformed into sections
and welded to form a
rigid structure (a heavier
gauge is used when
structurally or
acoustically necessary
• Aspiration and a cooling
air flow is provided via
- mesh or
- fixed weather louvered
apertures
• Access doors can be
positioned on both sides
and the rear, if required.
They have:
- anti-rattle pads
- slam lock fastening
- a chromium handle
• Viewing windows can be
built into the doors for
visual access to items
such as generator
control panel.
EC Acoustic Canopies
The structure is manufactured to
the same high specification as
the weather canopy with the
addition of:
• acoustic 50mm resin
bonded mineral fibre
faced with 1.0mm
galvanised perforated
steel applied to the doors
and roof. This ensures
that the structure meets
the noise regulations laid
down by the European
community.
The EC acoustic canopies also
feature:
• acoustic louvers or
baffles for aspiration and
cooling air flow
• flexible canvas plenums
to interconnect radiators
to outlets
• access doors with a
compression-type seal
Acoustic Canopies
The structure is manufactured to
the same high specification as
the weather canopy with the
addition of:
• acoustic 50/100mm resin
bonded mineral fibre
(density 45kg/m³) faced
with galvanised
perforated sheet.
They also feature:
• acoustic splitters or
baffles to provide
aspiration and cooling air
flow
• flexible canvas plenums
to interconnect radiators
to outlets
• access doors with a
compression type seal
• double glazed viewing
windows.
Demountable Canopies
Where a demountable canopy is
required, acoustic panels are
bolted to hollow box steel
frames, which are, in turn,
bolted together. It is
recommended that demountable
canopies are finished in primer
for delivery and the top coat
applied after the final assembly
on site
Fire Resistance
All panels are constructed of
non-combustible materials and
satisfy Class 1, Spread of
Flames requirements.
