Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) is a technology utilized to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions in exhaust streams, commonly applied in vehicles and industrial settings. By introducing a reductant, typically a urea-based solution such as AdBlue or Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF), into the exhaust stream, the technology triggers a reaction with NOx over a catalyst, resulting in the formation of harmless nitrogen and water.

𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲:

SCR systems aim to minimize harmful NOx emissions, which are known to contribute to air pollution and respiratory issues.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀:

Reductant Injection: A urea solution, like AdBlue or DEF, is injected into the hot exhaust gas stream.

Catalyst Interaction: The exhaust gas, combined with the reductant, flows over a catalyst made of materials such as titanium dioxide, vanadium pentoxide, or tungsten trioxide.

Chemical Reaction:

The catalyst facilitates a chemical process where NOx reacts with the ammonia (derived from the urea) to produce nitrogen gas and water vapor, harmless byproducts.

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀:

Reductant: A liquid reducing agent like AdBlue or DEF, a urea-water solution.

Catalyst: A substance expediting the chemical reaction without being consumed.

Mixing Unit: Ensures proper blending of the reductant and exhaust gas before reaching the catalyst.

Control System: Monitors and regulates the reductant injection based on engine conditions.

𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀:

High NOx reduction efficiency: SCR systems can achieve substantial reductions in NOx emissions, often exceeding 90%.

Fuel efficiency: In certain cases, SCR can enhance fuel economy in diesel engines by enabling better engine calibration.

Compliance with emissions standards: Crucial for meeting strict emissions regulations across sectors.

Our modular ‘Airless’ SCR systems are conveniently delivered on skids with tailored exhaust silencers to meet specific noise level needs. These systems arrive pre-wired for effortless installation, providing a seamless ‘plug and play’ solution. The only additional requirement is Urea/AdBlue, with the option of integrating day tanks on the skid. This customizable and versatile system is deployable worldwide, easily assembled, disassembled, and relocated as necessary.

Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) is a proven and effective technology for reducing harmful NOx emissions from industrial and marine engines. By injecting a urea-based solution into the exhaust stream and passing it through a catalyst, SCR systems help meet strict environmental regulations while improving air quality.
