Walk-In Acoustic Enclosure for NHS Hospital Emergency Backup
Project Overview
In October 2023, our team completed the loading of a bespoke Walk-In Acoustic Enclosure designed to deliver critical sound attenuation and house emergency backup power systems. The enclosure was engineered to meet the stringent requirements of a UK NHS Hospital Site, supporting essential infrastructure resilience.
Client
NHS Hospital (Name withheld for confidentiality)
Objective
To provide a high-performance acoustic container that ensures:
- Noise reduction to 70 dB(A) at 1 metre
- Secure housing for critical emergency backup power
- Seamless integration with existing hospital infrastructure
Key Features
- 70 dB(A) @1m Sound Attenuation: Engineered to significantly reduce operational noise, ensuring minimal disruption to hospital activities.
- Walk-In Design: Allows full internal access for maintenance and monitoring.
- Integrated Fuel Tank: For uninterrupted generator operation.
- Motorised Louvres: Enhance airflow and cooling, responsive to system needs.
- Electrical Systems Pre-Fitted: For rapid on-site commissioning.
- Escort Load Delivery: Due to the size and complexity of the unit, transport included an escorted load with separate delivery of the penthouse, extract attenuator, and exhaust components.
Timeline
- Sister Unit Delivered: February 2022
- Current Unit Dispatched: October 2024
Outcome
The unit is part of a twin-installation strategy, following the successful deployment of its sister unit in early 2022. Together, these enclosures play a vital role in ensuring uninterrupted power to critical NHS services during outages or emergencies.
