What Is an Acoustic Canopy?

An acoustic canopy is a steel enclosure built around a generator or engine. It reduces noise, protects the equipment from rain and wind, and keeps staff safe from moving parts. How Acoustic Canopies Reduce Noise

The inside of the canopy panels is lined with 50mm resin-bonded mineral fibre, faced with 1.0mm galvanised perforated steel. This layer absorbs sound energy before it can escape the enclosure. Acoustic splitters and baffles are also fitted to control airflow while still allowing cooling air to pass through. This means the generator stays cool and quiet at the same time.

Airflow and Access Features

A generator needs a steady flow of air to cool down and to support combustion. IMS canopies use mesh or fixed weather louvres to bring air in safely, without letting noise escape. Access doors are fitted on the sides and rear for maintenance. Viewing windows can also be added, so staff can check the control panel without opening the canopy.
