In 2026, Industrial & Marine Silencers proudly celebrates 35 years of engineering excellence, innovation, and growth.
Founded on 26th April 1991, IMS began operations from a modest 400m² facility, specialising in exhaust gas silencers and air intake attenuators for the power generation industry. From those early days, the company rapidly established itself as a trusted partner to major diesel engine manufacturers, generator set builders, and mechanical services providers worldwide.
Driven by demand and a commitment to delivering high-performance solutions, IMS expanded quickly—moving to larger premises in 1994, then developing a purpose-built manufacturing facility in 1998 to support the production of increasingly complex and large-scale equipment.
Over the decades, IMS has continued to evolve. Today, operating from a 32,000 sq. ft site in Shepshed, the company has grown into a global leader in noise reduction and emissions control technology, serving industries including power generation, petrochemical, rail, and marine.
What began as a silencer manufacturer has developed into a full-service provider offering design, manufacture, and installation of advanced acoustic and emissions solutions. The product range now includes acoustic enclosures, air inlet and extract attenuators, catalytic converter systems, and complete emissions abatement technologies such as SCR and DPF systems.
The journey continues today with further expansion, including new facilities supporting the IMSeco division—focused on next-generation exhaust aftertreatment solutions—ensuring IMS remains at the forefront of environmental and acoustic innovation.
