Industrial & Marine Silencers Ltd. and E.I. Williams Industries are pleased to announce a strategic partnership. The partnership will combine both companies’ industry-leading noise reduction knowledge and IMS’s world-leading emission reduction technology.

With exhaust after-treatment technology playing an increasingly critical role within the power generation industry, both companies recognize that they need to globally accelerate the development and application of exhaust after-treatment products to ensure they continue to help new and old clients meet the ever-changing Governmental and State legislations. The IMS / E.I. Williams partnership brings together excellent skills in both the company’s business and technology strategy, product ideation, technology development, and deployment to help support clients through successful transformations.

The IMS / E.I. Williams partnership is a powerful combination that will see both of our products be deployed across the United States of America and Canada. IMS’s understanding and rich history in the exhaust after treatment market, deep engineering expertise, and agile, collaborative approach uniquely complement how E.I. Williams operates. We believe this partnership will help to generate industry leading technology products and platforms,” said Dan Gallacher, IMS International Sales Manager. “With our extensive portfolio of projects, stretching over the past 20 years, and proven SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) technology operating across Europe and beyond, we look forward to working with all at E.I. Williams in ensuring we both enter the US and Canadian market with product and service support that can ensure we strengthen both companies worldwide leading status and take that to the next level and beyond”.

Misagh Tabrizi, E.I. Williams’ Director of Engineering, also noted that:  “For those involved with generators used as either primary or standby power sources for facilities, peak shaving applications, curtailment/interruptible rate programs, and supplying power to the electrical grid, our combined technology offers substantial benefits. They will gain from a cost-effective, proven solution that ensures reliability and peace of mind while simultaneously meeting and exceeding the Tier 4 compliance standards.”

He further elaborated on the advantages of their advanced system: ” The IMS / E.I. Williams closed-loop SCR system significantly reduces the total cost of ownership for end-users. Additionally, it provides integrators with the most compact design in the industry, setting a new benchmark for efficiency and performance.”

By creating this formal partnership and combining their extensive knowledge, proven product base, deep next-gen technology, and engineering expertise, the collaboration represents a significant step in how both businesses address the market’s needs.

Industrial & Marine Silencers Ltd.

Industrial & Marine Silencers Ltd. was incorporated in the United Kingdom on April 26th, 1991, and initially operated from a 4,000 sq. ft. premises. The standard product lines for the power generation industry were exhaust gas silencers and air intake attenuators.

Within a very short period, the company became a major player in its designated area of activity, which was supplying equipment for all the major diesel engine manufacturers, generator set builders, and mechanical services installers.

In 1994, the company moved a few meters down the road to a 9,000 sq. ft. premises to accommodate the increasing levels of production required by the growing number of worldwide customers.

As the company progressed, it became evident that even this move would not satisfy the market’s increasing demand for even larger exhaust gas silencers, steam vent silencers, and air intake attenuator units. This eventually led to designing and building a 16,000 sq. ft. purpose-built manufacturing plant in 1998 to produce the largest types of equipment currently required,

Their development story has continued in much the same vein, and in 2013, they moved once more to their current 32,000 sq. ft. site, which has quality facilities and potential for growth.

In 2024, the expansion continued as they secured another 12,000 sq. ft facility. This facility will be used solely for their IMSeco division where they will continue to develop and manufacture their range of exhaust aftertreatment products.

E.I. Williams Industries

E.I. Williams was founded in 1992 by Jim Williams and his partners in Markham, Ontario, Canada, with just two employees. The company quickly established a reputation for designing and developing high-quality noise and emission products.

By 1999, E.I. Williams had outgrown its original location and moved to a larger facility in Ajax, ON. The company increased its production space to 7,000 sq. ft and expanded its team to five employees. In 2006, the company relocated to a new site within Ajax, significantly expanding its production and office space to 21,000 sq. ft.

By 2016, the company had implemented new production processes and significantly expanded its workforce. This period of growth set the stage for the next significant development in 2019 when discussions began to grow the business with a new facility in the USA. This led to the acquisition of a newly constructed facility in Sarepta, LA, boasting 50,000 sq. ft of existing space with an additional 50,000 sq. ft available for future expansion. The site is on just over five acres of land, with an additional five acres available for further development.

In 2023, E.I. Williams continued to grow and expand its facilities, making significant R&D investments and introducing new products, including emission products like 3WCs, DOCs, and DPFs. In 2024, the company took a major step forward by partnering with IMS to provide SCR solutions in the North American market.
